Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating Opens Arizona Franchise

Freshly Prepared Meals Now Available for Pick Up or Delivery

July 16, 2009 // Franchising.com // Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating (SSHE) is pleased to announce the opening of its newest franchise, Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating of Arizona. SSHE provides healthy, portion and calorie-controlled meals that are ideal for health conscious desert living. Previously, Arizona was served by SSHE's national Home Delivery program. Now, the area has a franchise kitchen located in central Phoenix that services local distributorships and clients throughout Metro Phoenix.

SSHE, a unique meal replacement program since the meals are nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared and include salads, fresh fruit and vegetables, offers two portion sizes to choose from, 1,200-calorie per day plan or 2,000-calorie per day plan. Clients order for the week and each order includes every breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week (21 meals in all). There's no planning, shopping or cooking necessary with the SSHE plan.

The SSHE meal plan follows the guidelines of health and nutrition experts and is portion and calorie controlled, low fat, low saturated fat, low cholesterol and sodium restricted. Meals are ideal for everyone including the health conscious, but especially helpful for diabetics, cardiac patients, people with hypertension, new and expecting mothers, recently discharged hospital patients, seniors and busy professionals. SSHE meals do not contain:

• Artificial sweeteners, food dyes, harmful additives or preservatives
• High fructose corn syrup
• Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils (trans fat)
• Hormones or antibiotics in poultry products

"Our plan provides what one should eat, if they had the time to prepare it for themselves. We've been doing this longer than any one else out there, since 1985, when I decided as a registered nurse that I could help more people eat healthy by creating a meal plan for them," said Seattle Sutton, RN, BSN, Founder and President of Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating.

The idea for SSHE was born from Sutton's work in her physician husband's practice as his registered nurse. Time and again, after handing patients a menu on a piece of paper, Sutton felt guilty she couldn't help them more. Then, one day, the idea came to her while counseling a type II diabetic about his diet. That' s the moment she went from nurse to entrepreneur.

How SSHE Works

Through this new franchise, more Arizonans will now be able to enjoy and benefit from SSHE's delicious meals at a substantially lower cost than what was previously available for the area. For example, the 1,200-calorie portion plan will cost $125 and the 2,000-calorie portion plan will cost $145. Delivery to home or office is also available for a nominal fee. The new SSHE Arizona franchise has a network of local distributor locations -- i.e., storefront retail establishments -- serving customers in Metro Phoenix. The distributors provide clients with portion and calorie-controlled meals for the week. The franchisee will rapidly expand out to accommodate customers with distributor locations throughout Arizona.

The Arizona franchise is locally owned by John and Jo Dresh, both bring numerous years experience with them as seasoned business professionals. Most recently, John owned a successful furniture distribution business and Jo worked as a certified public accountant.

About the SSHE Franchise Concept

SSHE Corporate and its franchisees operate kitchens that supply meals to distributor locations, retail establishments where clients order the healthy, prepared meals and obtain their meals for the week -- breakfast, lunch and dinner. In locations not serviced by distributors, franchisees can ship meals directly to the client's homes and offices, a service the new Arizona franchise will offer in the near future. Until then, those residing outside their distributor locations may continue to order meals via SSHE's national Home Delivery program. The SSHE Arizona franchise is the ninth franchise for the company, which began franchising the popular business concept in 1996 to a select few franchisees. The company has approximately 250 distributor locations in those areas and serves the remainder of the United States via its national Home Delivery program, shipping meals from coast-to-coast to areas not franchised and serviced by distributors.

The Arizona franchise is the fourth franchise granted by SSHE in the last four years after the company began its national Home Delivery in 2005, serving clients from across the country via its headquarters in Ottawa, Ill., located nearly 80 miles southwest of Chicago. The most recent franchise awarded was Ohio in February 2009.
