Jiffy Lube(R) Holds 'J-Team All Stars' Grand Finals to Determine the Top-Performing Service Center Team in Country

Nation's Leading Fast-Lube Company Showcases Extraordinary Franchisee Employees During 30th Anniversary Annual Convention

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 // PRNewswire // -- Which Jiffy Lube service center's employees will be crowned the All Star Champion? On August 20th at Jiffy Lube International's 30th Anniversary celebration and annual Convention, one of three top-performing Jiffy Lube franchisee employee teams will earn that title. The event is the culmination of the first-ever Jiffy Lube J-Team All Stars competition, which celebrates teamwork, enthusiasm and dedication by challenging participants in a series of service competitions. Franchisees from across the U.S. entered their service center employees, or J-Teams, for the chance to win the competition, which kicked off earlier this year.

"We established the fast-lube category 30 years ago, and the values of convenience, speed and quality service that the company was founded on, are more important than ever," said Rick Altizer, Jiffy Lube International President. "The J-Team All Stars competition celebrates our commitment to excellence, and encourages every service center to uphold that commitment to every customer and vehicle they service."

The Road to the Finals

Each finalist team has made it through four rounds of competition in their respective regions, beating out more than 2,000 other service centers to solidify their place as a top performer. The three J-Team finalists are:

  • Store #3211 in Herriman, Utah, owned by USP Group; team members include Quincy Hooker, customer service advisor; Austin Corbell, courtesy technician; Wes Van Valkenburg, lower bay technician; Anthony Thompson, upper bay technician; and Stephen Poulsen, team leader and manager.
  • Store #138 in Des Moines, Iowa, owned by Ord Enterprises; team members include Tyler Ollerich, customer service advisor; Kyle Lloyd, courtesy technician; Rudy Ezekias, lower bay technician; Sam Walker, upper bay technician; and John Bruce, team leader.
  • Store #516 in Quakertown, Penn., owned by Mid Atlantic Lubes Group; team members include Bonnie Kisutcza, customer service advisor; Jen Dilts, courtesy technician; John Bauer, lower bay technician; Nicole Landis, upper bay technician; and Jeremy Garber, team leader.

Each of the three teams brings something different to the competition. The Des Moines team has been highly motivated from the beginning of the competition. After relentless practice sessions, the team received a perfect score of 100 during one of the qualifying rounds. The team members from Quakertown also received a perfect score during the round that determined the Division Champions, and three of the five members are female. The members of the Herriman J-Team bring 24 years combined experience with Jiffy Lube to the competition.

"This competition has been a fun and exciting way to reinforce the essence of what Jiffy Lube provides to our customers - fast, dependable preventive maintenance services every visit," said Ed Williams, Mid Atlantic Lubes franchisee. "It's really motivated our employees to work together and continue delivering exceptional customer experiences in their service centers."

Each J-Team finalist will display their teamwork and skills by performing a Jiffy Lube Signature Service(R) Oil Change for two customers. They will be judged by six Jiffy Lube International District Managers, who will be rating the teams' performances based on two criteria: quality of service performed and how well they deliver a WOW customer experience. The teams will also be timed, but this will only be used to determine who is the fastest in the event of a tie.

Approaching the Finish Line

The finalists are vying for a $10,000 team grand prize and the title of Jiffy Lube J-Team All Stars Champion. Second and third place winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500 team prizes, respectively. All three finalists receive airfare and accommodations for the annual Convention. The Grand Finals will take place on August 19, 2009 at 7 p.m. ET. The winner will be announced at the Jiffy Lube Convention Awards Dinner the next day.
