Bojangles' Randy Kibler Receives Restaurant Industry Accolade for Brand's Recent Accomplishments

Golden Chain Award Recognizes Company's Strategic Store Growth, Customer Loyalty and Commitment to High Quality Food

Bojangles' Fans Can Vote for Operator of the Year Award

August 20, 2009 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE, NC – Honoring Bojangles' status as one of the fastest growing restaurant companies nationally, with record earnings in 2008 and for the first six months of 2009, Nation's Restaurant News has awarded Randy Kibler, president and CEO of Bojangles' Restaurants, Inc., with its prestigious Golden Chain award.

Announced today by Bojangles, Kibler will accept the honor at the 50th Annual Multi-Unit Foodservice Operators (MUFSO) Conference in Dallas on October 5, 2009. He is one of six U.S. restaurant industry executives to receive this year's honor, one of which will be named Operator of the Year during the conference.

"This award represents the efforts of the entire Bojangles' family," said Kibler, who joined Bojangles' two years ago and has nearly four decades of quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry experience. "From our Support Center and company restaurants to our talented franchise owners and their teams, we are rising to the occasion and creating a one-of-a-kind experience for our loyal and growing customer base."

Ranked among North Carolina's largest privately held companies, Bojangles' reported systemwide sales totaling $608 million in 2008 and expects 2009 system sales of $688 million. Bojangles' has 449 operating restaurants including 159 company operated restaurants and 290 franchise restaurants. Based on current approved projects, Bojangles' expects to open 42 restaurants in 2009 and to open its 500th restaurant in 2010.

"Under Randy's leadership, we've continued and accelerated the brand's momentum that's been building for more than a handful of years," said Eric Newman, executive vice president and general counsel for Bojangles' Restaurants Inc. "He knows great things are happening across our chain, but sees the big picture and knows there is still work to be done."

Vote for Operator of the Year Award Online

In addition to the Golden Chain award, one of the six honorees will be named the Nation's Restaurant News Operator of the Year. The honor is awarded to the one Golden Chain recipient who receives the most votes through an online selection process.
