Element Dallas Fort Worth Airport North Hotel Opens Just One Day after Element Denver Park Meadows
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sep 22, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) today announces the opening of Element Dallas Fort Worth Airport North - its sixth hotel globally, and the second to open this week, following yesterday's opening of the Element Denver Park Meadows.
Owned by Sava Holdings, Ltd. and managed by Aquila Lodging, L.L.C., Element Dallas Fort Worth Airport North Hotel is also the second Element hotel to open in Texas and is among the first in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to pursue the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for high-performance buildings.
"The opening of two Element hotels in one week highlights our commitment to strategically expand our exciting, new eco-chic brand in the right places with the right partners," said Paul Sacco, Senior Vice President of Development for North America, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. "We were thrilled to work closely with Sava Holdings and Aquila Lodging on the opening of their first Element hotel."
Launched by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. in 2008, Element delivers a no-compromise, eco-chic experience enhanced by comfortable and inspiring public spaces, modern touches and smart design. Element Hotels is the first major hotel brand to mandate that all its properties pursue the US Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
The Element brand's green features are cleverly designed to be as aesthetically appealing as they are eco-friendly, so guests never compromise on style and comfort. Eco-friendly materials are used whenever possible and natural light is maximized throughout the hotels. To reduce waste, guest room bathrooms are equipped with amenity dispensers, kitchens are supplied with silverware and glassware instead of plastic utensils and paper cups, and filtered drinking water is available rather than plastic water bottles. Recycling bins are available in guest rooms and public areas. Element hotels conserve water and energy with low-flow faucets and fixtures, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and energy-efficient appliances. Even the ubiquitous "Do Not Disturb" sign has been replaced with an environmentally-friendly magnet.
Aquila Lodging owns and manages a portfolio of well recognized hotels. Brands in the company's portfolio include aloft, Candlewood Suites, Element, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites. Aquila Lodging's culture makes it one of the most desired hospitality companies to work for in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The company's culture is based on three core principals: mutual respect, trust and open channels of dialogue. Engaging these principles create a positive work environment which is the cornerstone of the company's success.
