Einstein Noah Restaurant Group and San Antonio Entrepreneur Open Area's First Einstein Bros. Bagels Franchise Location

Experienced Restaurant Operator to Open Six Additional Restaurants in San Antonio Market

October 06, 2009 // Franchising.com // SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Charles Loflin, a local San Antonio entrepreneur with ownership in more than 28 eateries, celebrates the grand opening of his Einstein Bros.® Bagels franchise location at 12730 IH-10 West in San Antonio, Texas. It is the brand's first franchise location in the area.

"We are thrilled to offer a restaurant that will impress new and longtime Einstein Bros. fans with distinctive menu options and a vibrant dining environment, "said Loflin. "We want to offer the best in quick casual bakery fare to San Antonio residents through a brand that has built a great name and strong popularity in cities throughout the country."

The opening marks the first of seven locations that Loflin will operate in the San Antonio market and the third franchise location in Texas, joining the Einstein Bros. Bagels in Frisco and Tyler. Currently, there are two other Einstein Bros. Bagels locations in San Antonio.

Available for take-out, dine-in and catering, Einstein Bros. innovative menu features freshly baked bagels, fresh breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads and premium coffees served all day. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are available on a variety of freshly baked breads, rolls or wraps, and, of course, a huge selection of tasty, freshly baked bagels. Additionally, the new San Antonio location will feature an Espresso Bar with a unique barista station where customers can get their favorite hot and frozen espresso-based drinks.

"When guests sit down to eat Einstein Bros. food, we want them to taste our innovation in bagels and beyond. We want them to experience the 'wow factor' with each bite," said Jeff O'Neill, chief executive officer and president of Einstein Noah Restaurant Group. "Our new location in San Antonio fits in perfectly with our goal to be at the leading edge of what casual bakery guests want."

A seasoned restaurateur with more than 25 years experience, 12 years in franchise operations, Loflin also owns 28 Wingstop locations in the San Antonio market.

The new restaurant is the sixth Einstein Bros. franchise location for the brand's parent company, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc (Nasdaq: BAGL). In addition to Loflin's seven-unit deal, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group has inked 10 other multi-unit franchise agreements to open locations in Jacksonville, Florida, Orange County, California, Northwest Arkansas, Augusta, Georgia, Colorado, Utah and multiple markets throughout Texas. The first franchised location opened in Jacksonville, Florida in Mid-April 2008. Additional openings are slated for late-2009 and beyond.

"We are extremely pleased with the growth of our franchising program for the Einstein Bros. brand," said O'Neill. "We believe that continued expansion by aggressive growth-minded franchisees like Loflin is a sign that the Einstein Bros. Bagels brand is a high quality investment, and that we are one step closer to achieving our vision of becoming the fastest growing fast casual restaurant chain in North America".

Known best for its famous bagels and breakfast sandwiches, five different flavors of Darn Good Coffee®, flavorful cream cheese shmears and trendy lunchtime sandwiches, Einstein Bros. has secured its distinctive place among competitors in the rapidly expanding fast casual restaurant category with innovative menu offerings like the new Bros. Blenders.® Frozen Drinks to keep guests visiting during morning and afternoon hours. Moreover, the brand's trendy restaurant decor and contemporary atmosphere is designed to attract a loyal, more upscale guest base that can feel at home while dining.
