The Gymboree Corporation Updates Third Quarter Sales and Earnings Guidance

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 8 // PRNewswire-FirstCall // -- The Gymboree Corporation (Nasdaq: GYMB) today announced revised sales and earnings expectations for the third fiscal quarter ending October 31, 2009.

Earnings per diluted share for the third fiscal quarter are now expected in the range of $1.05 to $1.10. This represents an increase from prior guidance for the quarter of $0.95 to $1.03 per diluted share.

The increased earnings expectation is primarily driven by better than anticipated gross margin rates resulting from more effective inventory and markdown management on slightly lower sales volumes. Comparable store sales and per store inventory levels at the end of the quarter are now expected to be down in the range of low to mid single digits.
