November 09, 2009 // Franchising.com // Employees at the Weichert corporate headquarters in Morris Plains recently held their annual Passionately Pink for the Cure™ Event to fight against breast cancer. The Weichert Family of Companies employees raised more than $3,000 in contributions for the North Jersey affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
"Giving back to the community is an important part of Weichert culture," said Denise Smith, senior vice president of administration and operations for Weichert. "In participating in events like Passionately Pink for the Cure, Weichert employees are able to help make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by this disease."
Up to 75 percent of the net income from each Komen domestic affiliate is dedicated to fighting breast cancer in that affiliate's community. Every year, Komen affiliates award grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. Remaining net income, minimum of 25 percent, supports the Komen Research Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research and scientific programs around the world.
Passionately Pink for the Cure, a year-round fundraising and education program, encourages companies, schools and organizations to share in the promise of finding a cure by supporting breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. Since 1982, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs.
