Blockbuster Expands Online Game Rental Pilot to Seattle

Service Enables Seattle-Area Consumers To Rent the Hottest New Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2 Games Online for By-Mail Delivery

DALLAS // PRNewswire-FirstCall // -- Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI) (NYSE: BBI.B), a global leader in entertainment, today announced that consumers in the Seattle area can now rent the latest new video games such as "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", "Assassin's Creed 2" and "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" online at blockbuster.com and have them delivered directly to their mailbox, expanding on a pilot test launched in Cleveland earlier this year.

"We know our customers in Seattle love games, so we're excited to expand our Games By Mail pilot to include this market," said Keith Morrow, Blockbuster CIO. "We hope customers will take advantage of the service and share their feedback with us, so that we can build on our key learnings from Cleveland and further refine the offering in preparation for a national launch."

The new Games By Mail option is available to all Seattle-area BLOCKBUSTER Online® movie rental subscribers, giving them the ability to add Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2 games to their online rental queue. To start receiving games, subscribers need to opt in for the service and add the games they want to rent to the top of their existing BLOCKBUSTER Online rental queue.

Subscribers can rent as many games as they want -- one game out at a time -- during a month. Games rented count toward the total number of rentals a subscriber is allowed under their current BLOCKBUSTER Online subscription plan. Subscribers can exchange their game rentals in participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores just as they do their movies for either free movie rentals or discounted movie or game rentals, depending on the terms of their current BLOCKBUSTER Online plan.

The cost for the Games By Mail option is $7.99 per month, which is only charged if the game option is used. If no games are rented during a billing cycle, there is no incremental game rental fee that month.

Blockbuster offers a range of online movie subscription plans. Premium plans enable subscribers to have up to three movies out at a time, plus five free in-store rental exchanges per month. Subscribers pick from over 95,000 titles online and have them delivered by mail with no extra charge for Blu-ray titles and no due dates or late fees. Movies can be mailed back in a prepaid envelope or returned or exchanged at a participating BLOCKBUSTER store for either free movie rentals or discounted movie or game rentals, depending on the subscriber's current BLOCKBUSTER Online plan.
