Vapiano To Open In Boston's "transportation Building"
Former Bennigan's Restaurant Being Converted Into Boston's First Vapiano
November 18, 2009 // Franchising.com // McLean, VA – Alfred Keilen will open Boston's first Vapiano restaurant at 191 Stuart Street, the corner of Stuart Street and Charles Street South. The new 5,400 square foot Vapiano location was the first choice in the entire market by Mr. Keilen and will feature an outdoor lounge along Stuart Street and a large outdoor patio along Charles Street South for dinner. This new Vapiano is ideally located in the theatre district near a new W Hotel and just a block away from Boston Common.
Mr. Keilen who, along with his wife Steffi, and three children, relocated from Germany to Boston earlier this year to become the Vapiano franchisee. "I was originally a CPA in Germany with Vapiano as a client so I am familiar with owning by own company and was able to see first hand the upside of the Vapiano business. I first fell in love with Boston when I was 15 years old and always wanted to move my family here so when the chance to move to Boston and also operate the Vapiano franchises came up, it was a dream opportunity. Boston has always reminded me of many of the European cities where I have seen Vapiano restaurants thrive and I can't wait to open", said Alfred Keilen.
"I've spent a lot of time in Boston as the former senior vice president with Legal Sea Foods. The Park Plaza Legal Sea Foods was a huge success and I know the Transportation Building area well. Vapiano is going to be a nice, fresh addition to an already wonderful part of Boston. The value Vapiano brings is going to be a big stand out for this location", said Bill Bessette, CEO of Vapiano.
Vapiano is an innovative, fast casual European concept serving made-to-order fire roasted pizzas, fresh, house-made pasta and hand tossed gourmet salads. Vapiano continues to garner global attention for their approach to dining – dishes are prepared at high temperature exhibition style wok stations, fresh herbs adorn each table and a unique chip card payment system rounds out each diner's ultra-modern experience. The restaurant's pioneering self-service technology and unmistakable upscale décor has created a huge customer fan base and helped fuel the company's worldwide expansion. Restaurants are 5,000-8,000 square feet and seat 180-220 guests.
Vapiano has over 50 locations worldwide with franchised units in development across the United States in cities such as Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Houston, Texas, Ft. Meyers, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts, Chicago, IL and Manhattan, NY. Vapiano continues to target key markets such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, and New York for corporate expansion.
