Coaching for a Cause: ActionCOACH Helps Further Non-profit's Mission through Pro Bono Business Coaching

Over 100 Top Business Coaches have pledged to donate coaching hours to their favorite causes to help the sector overall raise at least $2.5 million in donations within six months.

December 09, 2009 // Franchising.com // Youth for Christ, an international organization founded in the late 1940's, has gone through many changes throughout the years - moving from rallies to Campus Life club meetings. While continuing to focus on Campus ministries, YFC has added urban and Student-led ministry to increase its ability to reach youth.

"Our local chapter was founded in 1956," Executive Director Philip Tuttle said. "Even though there have been many changes over the years, our main focus has not changed. We have evolved to effectively meet the needs of our generation."

With the motto, "Introducing a Fatherless Generation to the Father," and as a para-church ministry, it works alongside local churches to help them in reaching out to those around them.

While the outreach has tripled in the past three years, allowing it to also automate and streamline its processes, it is facing some major challenges as a result of the economic downturn.

"In order to saturate our region and to expand beyond, we are in the process of developing a strategy for long-term growth," Tuttle said. "This will entail a greater use of electronic teaching tools, increased staff size and a long-term funding strategy."

And helping them achieve this is Wayne Kurzen, a Business Coach from the world's leading business and executive coaching firm, ActionCOACH.

Tuttle believes Kurzen is responsible for their growth in the past two years.

"Wayne has typically helped to keep me on task and is responsible for much of our growth over the past two years. However, because of our growth, we face a whole new set of challenges," he said. "As the Executive Director, my job is continually evolving. I anticipate that Wayne will be able to help me focus on the essentials of the new challenges we face."

When ActionCOACH announced its first global cause-related marketing campaign to help the charitable and non-profit sectors, Kurzen who had been coaching this non-profit decided to bring it under the Coaching for a Cause program.

The brainchild of ActionCOACH's founder and CEO Brad Sugars, over 100 top Business Coaches are extending a helping hand to their favorite charities and non-profits with the overall aim of raising total funds and donations by $2.5 million. The combined value of this service is $1.8 million.

Kurzen whole-heartedly supports Youth for Christ's mission, and aims at increasing donations, by creating a long-range strategic plan

"I will help Phil with his time management issues and also assist with the adoption of the mentoring model at a national level," he said.

ActionCOACH Business Coaches provide an outsider's perspective, which helps their clients better understand their businesses and organizations. This pro bono service is being welcomed by charities and non-profits worldwide.

In the words of Tuttle, "Outside input keeps us from wasting energy and focusing on non-essentials."

Coaching for a Cause is an innovative, new program from ActionCOACH, the world's number one business and executive coaching firm that makes pro-bono coaching available to charities and non-profits worldwide.
