Krispy Kreme Franchisee Opens First Store in Shanghai, China

35 Stores Are Planned For China Over The Next Five Years

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation today announced that its long-time franchise partner, KKD Lotte Holdings Company, Ltd., has opened the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in Shanghai, China. Shanghai is the largest city in China, and the new shop is located at the In-Point Shopping Mall on the vibrant Wu-Jiang pedestrian walkway. KKD Lotte also is Krispy Kreme's franchisee in the Republic of Korea and Japan.

This is the first of 35 Krispy Kreme shops the franchisee plans to open over the next five years. The shop will offer 16 varieties of Krispy Kreme doughnuts that will be made fresh daily, including the signature Original Glazed(R) doughnut.

Currently, the Krispy Kreme Original Glazed(R) doughnut can be found in 19 countries, including the United States, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, China, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
