Raleigh Gamer Doc(R) Video Game Store's PTA Family Night
December 21, 2009 // Franchising.com // Kim and Jim Hamilton, owners of the Raleigh Gamer Doc video games store at 10251 Little Brier Creek Lane, hosted a PTA Family Night on November 18th for Brier Creek Elementary School parents, teachers and students. Activities included playing educational and family-friendly games, as well as the presentation of a Wii console to principal Sandy Chambers for the students' participation in the "Read for a Wii" contest.
The Hamiltons believe that video games can enrich students' critical reading and math skills, and improve test scores. They have a designated Educational Games section in their store, offering free play time incentives for good grades.
Kim Hamilton, a 20-year educator, says that the "introduction of these programs has been met with great enthusiasm by the children, which makes us feel that we are doing something worthwhile for the community."
