Ohio and Kentucky restaurants roll out popular dishes in sandwich form

February 02, 2010 // Franchising.com // BROOMFIELD, COLO. – A hot bowl of yummy noodles hits the spot every time for some people. For others, they crave more variety. Noodles & Company is catering to every palate with the introduction of its Sandwich Duos, inspired by some of the restaurant's most popular dishes.

"We knew there was something to the idea, because our restaurant team members have been making sandwiches with our ingredients behind the scenes for years," said Jill Preston, director of corporate communications. "We also understand that people aren't always in the mood for pasta, so we're offering the same fresh, tasty ingredients found in our noodle dishes in the form of a sandwich."

The sandwiches are available in three Duo varieties: the Mmmeatball, Wisconsin Cheesesteak and The Med. The Mmmeatball Duo was inspired from Spaghetti & Meatballs and includes five large meatballs, spicy marinara sauce and parmesan cheese on a ciabatta roll. The Wisconsin Cheesesteak Duo ties to the best-selling Wisconsin Mac & Cheese and includes sautéed beef, the infamous Mac & Cheese sauce, cheddar jack cheese and sautéed red onion, red bell pepper and mushrooms on a ciabatta roll. The Med Duo was born from The Med salad and includes chicken, mushrooms, spinach, red bell pepper, cucumber, red onion, Zippy Med dressing, cilantro and feta wrapped in flat bread.

As with the restaurant's current menu items, the sandwiches range from healthful to indulgent and are made to order with perfectly grilled meat, fresh vegetables and homemade sauces. "I promise these aren't your typical ham or turkey sandwiches," said Preston. "Once you try them, we know you'll love us for something other than noodles. In fact, we've asked our guests who have tried our sandwiches to take a quick survey, and the results have been off the charts."

Each Sandwich Duo includes a side soup or salad, and range in price from $5.50 - $7.25. The Sandwich Duos are currently available in all Ohio, Kentucky and select Colorado Noodles & Company restaurants with plans to expand in additional markets this spring.
