Sonnenschein's Dallas Office Receives LEED Certification

Law firm's significant growth leads to expansion of environmentally-friendly office space

(DALLAS) -- The Dallas office of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP has been awarded LEED® certification status established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). This is Sonnenschein's first office to receive such certification, with others expected to follow. LEED is the nation's preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

Sonnenschein currently leases 36,000 square feet of office space, designed by interior architecture firm lauckgroup, Inc., on the 19th and 20th floors of the 2000 McKinney office tower in Dallas's Uptown District. As the firm expands its presence in Dallas, it is adding an additional 14,000 square feet of space that is expected to be ready this spring. LEED certification for Sonnenschein was based on several features, including the construction process, materials used and overall design. The 2000 McKinney office tower is currently seeking LEED EB Gold certification, which it anticipates receiving before the end of 2010.

"We are thrilled to be the first national firm of our size in Dallas to be recognized with LEED certification," said Sonnenschein's Dallas Managing Partner Matthew D. Orwig. "We knew that our space would put us among a small group of firms that have recognized the importance of being green. Having outgrown our existing office space, we will continue to do everything we can to reduce our impact on the environment, while also creating a healthy work environment."

Sonnenschein's Dallas office, which opened in 2007, serves the firm's many Texas clients as well as those across the South and West. In less than three years, the office has grown from two attorneys to nearly 40, offering exceptional expertise in the areas of government litigation and investigations, as well as cyberlaw, products liability litigation and energy exploration.
