Hollywood Crowns Award Winning Movies

DALLAS // PRNewswire-FirstCall // -- Among the flashing lights, the glitz and the glamour, Hollywood paid homage to the "best of the best" movies for 2009. Movie fans looking to be among the first to watch last night's winners can check out the multitude of media offerings from Blockbuster Inc. (NYSE: BBI, BBI.B).

In the "Best Picture" category, "Hurt Locker" beat out box-office hit "Avatar" to take home the golden statue. The movie, based on the personal wartime experience of journalist Mark Boal, presents the conflict in the Middle East from the perspective of those who witnessed the fight firsthand – the soldiers.

  • Best Original Screenplay: Mark Boal for "The Hurt Locker" (Available Now)
  • Best Adapted Screenplay: Geoffrey Fletcher for "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire" (Available March 9)
  • Best Animated Film: "Up" (Available Now)
  • Best Documentary: "The Cove" (Available Now)
  • Best Foreign Language Film: "El Secreto de Sus Ojos," Argentina
  • Best Cinematography: Mauro Fiore for "Avatar"
