Lawrence opened his first store in July of 2008 in an area with a population of just under 14,000. He has managed to be successful and attributes that to the great customer service that his knowledgeable Play N Trade employees provide.
"I make sure that all my employees are familiar with and know every aspect of Play N Trade," says Lawrence. "We also take the time to get know our customer base and promote the community atmosphere that Play N Trade stores are known for."
Lawrence got his start in finance but wanted to do something he was passionate about. In his case it was running a successful business. As a lifetime gamer, he saw that there were many untapped opportunities within the video game industry.
"What I like about Play N Trade is that we differentiate from our competitors," he says. "We've created a fun gaming store, as it should be, by making our customers happy and creating an inviting store with a community atmosphere."
"We always have something going on in our store. One of our more popular events is a retro gaming tournament that takes place the last two weeks of every month," says Lawrence. "Customers compete in high score and speed run contests on games like ExciteBike, Punch-Out and Galaga and it actually sounds like an arcade in the store."
In addition to his second store opening, Lawrence already has plans for a third Play N Trade.
