NHL Star and Aspiring Youth Hockey Player to Take Ice Together in the Second Annual Play It Again Sports and Bauer Hockey 'Practice of a Lifetime'

Faribault, Minn. 10-Year-Old to Host Hockey Practice with Shattuck St. Mary's own Jack Johnson, Los Angles Kings Defenseman

May 07, 2010 // Franchising.com // FARIBAULT, Minn.– It's an experience few youth hockey players ever get to enjoy, but this summer Play It Again Sports and Bauer Hockey will turn dreams into reality with the second annual 'Practice of a Lifetime.'

Announced today, Faribault, Minn. 10-year-old Adam Vos has been named the winner of the 2010 'Practice of a Lifetime' sweepstakes. This year's promotion awards Vos and 20 of his teammates the chance to take the ice with Los Angeles Kings standout defenseman Jack Johnson, who spent his high school years at Shattuck St. Mary's Prep School in Faribault. The practice will be held soon after the NHL playoffs.

Vos, a goalie for the Faribault Squirt A team as well as the 2000 MN Edge AAA team, is especially excited to talk with Johnson about this past winter's Olympic Games. Johnson skated for Team USA, which won the silver medal.

"He's one of the best defensemen in the world and I know he can help us become better players," Vos said, who filled out the sweepstakes entry form while shopping for a hockey bag and knee hockey sticks at the Burnsville, Minn. store he frequents with his parents. "I am so excited to skate with Jack Johnson and my friends. I will never forget this."

Johnson, 22, first joined the organization in 2007. In his rookie year, he was presented with the Kings' Best Newcomer Award (Mark Bavis Memorial Award) and Outstanding Defenseman Award, voted by the Kings' media in 2008. He also finished in the top three among NHL rookies for average ice time and blocked shots. Johnson concluded his 2009 season tied for first among Kings defensemen with six goals and three power-play goals and first among NHL defensemen with three shootout goals.

"We are thrilled to partner again with Bauer Hockey for this exciting sweepstakes and to give the rare opportunity to Adam and his friends to practice with NHL pro Jack Johnson," said Pat Quinn, brand director for Play It Again Sports. "Last year's 'Practice of a Lifetime' was a huge hit with the youth hockey community and we can't wait to see the young players' faces light up when they skate with Jack."
