PostNet Launches Annual Fundraising Drive for Military Families

Neighborhood Business Centers Hoping to Raise $10,000 for Fisher House Foundation

DENVER, CO --(Marketwire) - Recognizing the special contributions and sacrifices our troops and their families make, PostNet is proud to announce their third-annual fundraising drive for the Fisher House Foundation to help wounded service members and their families.

As part of the drive, PostNet is encouraging customers to donate in honor of a loved one when they come in to ship Father's Day gifts. "Most people know a father who is a veteran, and this is a unique way to give a Father's Day gift while supporting a really important charity," said Emily Adams, communications coordinator for PostNet.

The fundraising drive will run from Memorial Day through the Fourth of July at participating PostNet Neighborhood Business Centers across the U.S. Customers can donate by:

  1. Visiting their PostNet Neighborhood Business Center and donating at the store counter.
  2. Donating online at www.active.com/donate/TeamFisherHouse/PostNet.

PostNet's national support for Fisher House began in 2008. The company was introduced to the cause by Lynne Killion, a PostNet store owner in Dearborn, Mich. Her son was injured by an IED during a tour in Iraq, and Lynne's husband stayed at a Fisher House at Fort Hood while he was hospitalized.

"When you get that phone call, everything just becomes a blur," Killion said. "You immediately start worrying about plane tickets, hotels -- but finding out about Fisher House was such a relief."

Fisher House builds "comfort homes" on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. Because members of the military must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, these homes enable family members to stay close to loved ones free of charge during these difficult times. Since its inception in 1990, Fisher House has served more than 200,000 families, offered nearly 3 million days of lodging and saved those families more than $100 million in costs. They received national media attention earlier this year when President Barack Obama donated $250,000 from his Nobel Peace Prize award to the organization.

"We are proud to be working with Fisher House again this year and teaming with our customers to support such a worthwhile cause," said Steve Greenbaum, co-founder and CEO of PostNet. "It is an honor to help bring a little comfort and support to our military families in their time of need."
