Auntie Anne's, Inc. Franchise Awards $25,000 in Scholarships

July 23, 2010 // Franchising.com // LANCASTER, Pa. - In recognition of their outstanding work ethic and educational accomplishments, Auntie Anne's, Inc., the world's largest franchisor of hand-rolled soft pretzels, recently awarded post-secondary scholarships to five students in five states across the country. Now in its fifth year, Auntie Anne's Scholarship Assistance Program is part of the company's vision to extend corporate philanthropy inward. The assistance program is available to all employees as well as their dependents and grandchildren to help provide advanced education and achieve educational goals.

The recipients of Auntie Anne's 2010 scholarship, each receiving $5,000 are: Tyler Bardo from Mill Hall, Pa., whose mother works at Auntie Anne's Nittany Mall; Patrick Calicdan from Joliet, Ill., crew member at Auntie Anne's Westfield Louis Joliet Mall; John Szablewski from Buffalo, N.Y., shift manager at Auntie Anne's Walden Galleria; Marissa Williamson from Everett, Wash., shift manager at Auntie Anne's Alderwood Mall, Northgate Shopping Center, Westfield Southcenter Mall, and Bellevue Square; and Ryan Watters from Waco, Texas, team leader at Auntie Anne's Richland Mall.

Auntie Anne's annually grants up to five post-secondary scholarships based on the applicant's character, achievements, and promise and strong commitment to achieving and maintaining the highest personal, academic, and personal standards. In addition, applicants must have completed the first semester of their senior year of high school or obtained their G.E.D. equivalency and must have gained acceptance to or be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, vocational or technical school, culinary institution, or other approved place of higher learning.

Auntie Anne's Inc. supports more than 1,070 Auntie Anne's® Pretzels locations worldwide. The concept mixes, twists, and bakes pretzels to golden brown perfection in full view of customers. Auntie Anne's, Inc. also offers a Mortgage Assistance Program for eligible store managers and assistant managers. MAP award money can be used for a portion of a down payment, closing costs, permanent interest rate buy down, or any combination of the three.
