Pizza Pizza Franchise Embarks on New Voyage in Halifax

TORONTO, ONTARIO - (Marketwire) - Pizza Pizza, Canada's national pizza purveyor, has weighed anchor in its East Coast expansion voyage with the opening of the first restaurant serving downtown Halifax. The new location follows a recent Canada-wide expansion that has seen four new stores open in British Columbia, two in Regina and two in Winnipeg.

The new Pizza Pizza location can be found at 1735 Grafton Street and is owned by Grafton Connor, a Halifax-based company that also owns The Fishermen Restaurant & Grill, The Grafton Street Dinner Theatre, Cheers, Taboo Nightclub and several other bars and restaurants throughout Nova Scotia. The new store is the first in the chain that caters to Eastern Canadian cravings for everything pie.

"We would like to extend a warm welcome to the Grafton Connor team for joining the Pizza Pizza family," said Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer for Pizza Pizza. "Our franchises play an active role in the communities they serve. We welcome the opportunity to participate in the future growth of Halifax."

The brand new store is a clean, open, well-lit space that seats 16 people in addition to standing room for approximately 20 others. The store employs 26 staff, mainly students. The new Pizza Pizza team will serve hot and fresh pies made available through delivery by calling 480-1111 or by ordering online. Freshly made slices will also be sold to walk in customers. Including the variety of classic, signature and create-your-own pizzas, the menu reflects most of the same items found in the rest of the chain, such as chicken bites, wings, family sized pasta and panzerottis.

In addition to the traditional Pizza Pizza menu, the team will add Halifax-style donairs, with the meat and sauce prepared in store. Only found at the Halifax location, the donairs are made with grilled spicy beef served on a warm pita with diced onions, tomatoes and donair sauce. Customers can also order donair pizza, which is made from Pizza Pizza's classic dough, donair sauce, mozzarella cheese, donair seasoned meat, red onions and sliced tomatoes.

"We are excited to be the first Pizza Pizza location on the East Coast," said Don Walker; Grafton Connor Corporate Chef. "My experience at the Pizza Pizza training centre in Toronto could not have been better. Our store is ready to deliver to the community and we are lucky to be part of this growing family."

The new Halifax store is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. Orders can be placed online. Customers can also join Pizza Pizza on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/PizzaPizzaCanada) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/PizzaPizzaLtd) to receive information on current contests and promotions.
