Smashburger Franchise Partners with TLC to Celebrate Olathe Grand Opening

July 30, 2010 // Franchising.com // Olathe, Kan. — Smashburger, a fast-casual "better burger" restaurant will open in Olathe, Kan. on August 3, 2010 at 15241 W. 119th Street (just West of Blackbob).

As part of the grand opening celebration, Smashburger is partnering with TLC for Children and Families, Inc. – a local organization that provides emergency shelter, psychiatric treatment and other emergency services for abused and neglected children in our community. In recognition of TLC, Smashburger will donate $1 from each Kansas City Smashburger sold August 3 to August 10, 2010 to TLC to support the organization's continued efforts as advocates to help children and youth in crisis.

The Kansas City Smashburger starts with 100-percent Certified Angus Beef and is topped with grilled onions, garlic sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese and haystack onions with A.1. Steak Sauce- served on an egg bun. Named for the cooking method used to create the perfect burger, Smashburgers are a one-third or half-pound ball of 100-percent - fresh, not frozen - Certified Angus Beef smashed on a flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. To further the "better burger" experience, Smashburgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a selection of flavorful cheeses, the freshest produce and top-quality condiments.

TLC was founded in 1972 to fulfill an unmet need in the community, a need for an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children from infancy through age 18. Through the years, TLC has expanded its services to children in crisis to further their mission of providing opportunities that encourage positive growth and change for children, youth and families while ensuring a safe environment. TLC strives for the preservation and healing of families by providing services that complement existing community services while maintaining responsiveness to changing community needs.

Smashburger is known for its savory burgers, but the restaurant also serves up delicious Smashchicken sandwiches, Smashdogs and Smashsalads with sides like veggie frites and rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries. Burger lovers can pair their meals with beer, wine, Häagen-Dazs shakes and root-beer floats.

"We are looking forward to our partnership with TLC for Children and Families, Inc. and the opportunity to support such an important organization to the Olathe community," says Smashburger Founder Tom Ryan. "We fully support their mission to provide opportunities and a safe environment for children, youth and families."

"We are proud to partner with Smashburger to raise awareness about the work of TLC for Children & Families and join in celebrating Smashburger's grand opening in Olathe," says Dr. Bob Drummond, President and CEO of TLC.
