MIAMI (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Burger King Corporation (NYSE: BKC), home of the iconic WHOPPER(R) sandwich, is in a New York state of mind with the opening of its flagship WHOPPER(R) Bar location in Times Square. The new WHOPPER(R) Bar, located at 561 Fashion Ave. (between 40th and 41st Streets), is open for business 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and boasts innovative versions of America's Favorite Burger*, the WHOPPER(R) sandwich.
The company's complementary restaurant concept provides guests with a premium restaurant experience and delivers the HAVE IT YOUR WAY(R) brand promise with a customizable menu. The WHOPPER(R) Bar also serves as an "innovation lab" for the BURGER KING(R) brand by showcasing new, creative products alongside the most recognized BURGER KING(R) menu favorites. This newest location will pay homage to famous New York fare when it begins serving the first-of-its-kind NY Pizza Burger in early September. Made for sharing and served in slices, this new burger will boast the best of both pizza and burger ingredients: four flame-broiled WHOPPER(R) patties topped with pizza-lovers' favorites, such as pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, all on a 9 ½-inch sesame seed bun.
"This award-winning restaurant concept epitomizes the HAVE IT YOUR WAY(R) experience and focuses on bringing America's Favorite Burger* to our guests in an even more personalized way," said John Schaufelberger, BKC's senior vice president, global product marketing and innovation. "Leading our 'Bar Favorites' menu with the NY Pizza Burger not only pays homage to our newest location, but demonstrates the type of menu offerings our guests can expect as we continue to showcase new concepts and uncover fan favorites."

Similar to other locations, WHOPPER(R) Bar New York City is a complementary restaurant concept for the BURGER KING(R) brand and features a crisp, modern, bar-like look and feel that leverages the WHOPPER(R) sandwich's flame-broiling as inspiration. "What started as a concept based on our iconic WHOPPER(R) sandwich has become a design model that leverages our brand's strengths and delivers a memorable dining experience for our guests. With only a few locations in the world, WHOPPER(R) Bar was recently honored with Chain Store Age magazine's Retail Store of the Year Award," Schaufelberger added.
As a contemporary, specialized restaurant concept, the WHOPPER(R) Bar exemplifies Burger King Corp.'s dedication to growing its brand and creating new menu items and restaurant experiences. The WHOPPER(R) Bar provides new and exciting avenues of development for the BK(R) brand. In addition to this latest flagship outpost in New York City, potential future development will include U.S. cities with high-profile venues like sports arenas, airports and other tourist destinations.
Including WHOPPER(R) Bar New York City, there are eight WHOPPER(R) Bar restaurants open worldwide. The world's first WHOPPER(R) Bar opened its doors in March 2009 at Universal CityWalk(R) at Universal Orlando(R) Resort in Florida, followed soon after by the opening of others in Singapore, Venezuela, Spain, Memphis and Miami's South Beach.
