El Pollo Loco Mexican Food Franchise Announces Kids eat free at hundreds of California restaurants Tuesday

September 27, 2010 // Franchising.com // (SACRAMENTO) Families across California are invited to take part in Family Day celebrations, including dining out in one of the hundreds of participating restaurants throughout the state offering free kids meals on Tuesday during the hours of 4 to 8 p.m. Nearly 1,000 restaurants will offer a free kids meals with the purchase of an adult entrée (limited to two per table) during the statewide celebration.

"The restaurant industry is an industry of giving and the nearly 1,000 restaurants throughout the state offering to feed kids for free on Family Day is just one example of their ongoing support of families in their communities," said Jot Condie, California Restaurant Association president + CEO. "We hope families will choose to eat out on Family Day and sit down together as a family unit to enjoy a great meal."

As honorary chairwoman of Family Day, First Lady Maria Shriver will celebrate Family Day at the Santa Monica YMCA. El Pollo Loco has generously donated meals to feed as many as 1,500 attendees. Guests will dine on delicious and healthful healthy meal options including citrus-marinated, flame-frilled chicken; Spanish rice; pinto beans; warm tortillas; and fresh salsas.

Attendees also can meet El Pollo Loco's beloved mascot, Loco, and have a chance to win prizes. Consistent with El Pollo Loco's commitment to the communities it serves, the company has arranged to deliver any leftover food to a shelter near the event site.

"I am so grateful to El Pollo Loco for their incredible partnership again this year," Shriver said. "With their help we will be able to provide a delicious meal for people to enjoy as part of our California Family Day celebration."
