Charlotte Foot Solutions Franchise Store Supports Breast Cancer Survivors

Foot Care Health and Wellness Store in Charlotte is giving away products and services for breast cancer survivors and is donating 10 percent of every pair of Balance Walking poles sold to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Charlotte, NC --(PR.com)-- A Charlotte foot care health and wellness store is giving away products and services to local breast cancer survivors and the store is giving their customers an opportunity to help fight breast cancer with every step they take.

The public is invited to visit the store during the month of October and nominate Breast Cancer survivors or those going through treatment for a chance to win the following products and services:

  • A pair of Pink Balance Walking Poles
  • A foot massage
  • A pair of walking shoes
  • A pair of therapeutic socks
  • A pair of shoe inserts

And 10 percent from the sale of every pair of PINK Balance Walking poles sold by the store will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

"As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to get the word out about our partnership with Susan G. Komen and let people know that they can help support the cause," said Foot Solutions Charlotte owner Jill Smith. "We also want to make women aware that by participating in healthy lifestyle activities, they can reduce their own risk of breast cancer."

Excluding cancers of the skin, the fact remains that breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for more than one in four cancers diagnosed in America. Studies indicate that physically active women have a lower risk of developing breast cancer.

For those who already have the disease, Balance Walking poles can help them get back into shape safely and efficiently following breast cancer surgery and treatment.

Unlike normal walking, Balance Walking exercises the entire body. Similar to cross country skiing, participants use their arms to push off from their walking poles, engaging the entire range of upper-body muscles. No snow is required as Balance Walking can be done anywhere including pavement, grass, sand and even indoors on a walking or running track or shopping mall prior to opening hours. Walking with balance poles burns about 50 percent more calories than walking without the poles. It also significantly reduces stress to the knees, hips and back.

"The benefits of Balance Walking are actually quite substantial. It strengthens core muscles, which helps to tone abs, buttocks and back muscles. This type of walking also enhances cardiovascular performance by more than 20 percent," said Smith. "As a health and fitness based company we are obviously excited about the opportunity to bring balance walking poles to our community in Charlotte. But even more importantly, we want to do our part to help raise awareness for Susan G. Komen, and support them in the fight against breast cancer."
