Wyndham Exchange & Rentals Recognised As One Of The Uk's Top Businesses

October 08, 2010 // Franchising.com // Hammersmith, London — Wyndham Exchange & Rentals has put the UK hospitality industry on the national business stage after being the only travel company shortlisted for the Grant Thornton Mid Cap Business of the Year category in the National Business Awards.

Part of the Wyndham Worldwide family of companies (NYSE: WYN), Wyndham Exchange & Rentals was recognised for its strong growth in the UK market alongside nine other businesses including construction and engineering firm Renew Holdings and the Allied Healthcare Group.

Wyndham Exchange & Rentals owns and operates several leading holiday brands across Europe that have been acquired over the last nine years including Hoseasons, English Country Cottages, Canvas Holidays, Landal GreenParks® and Novasol®. It has since become the world's largest full-service vacation rental business.

Ian Ailles, Managing Director of Wyndham's European Rentals business, said: "We have invested in acquisitions to increase our client base and in e-commerce to improve our efficiency and levels of customer engagement. Moreover we empower and encourage our fantastic associates who are fervent supporters of our business. These initiatives have been integral to our performance this year and are part of the reason we have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.

"Our recognition as a finalist is based not only on our impressive performance, with significant growth over the last 18 months, but also our philosophy of trust, integrity and doing the right thing by our customers and staff."

Acting as agents and marketers of independently-owned holiday homes, villas and inland waterway boats across Europe, Wyndham has more than 75,000 holiday homes located from the Arctic Circle to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea.

Commenting on Wyndham's selection as a finalist in this year's Grant Thornton Mid Cap Business of the Year Award, Alex Evans, Head of Judging for the National Business Awards said: "Wyndham Exchange & Rentals has developed into a major player for vacation home rentals and exchanges in the UK and Europe, with market leading brands geographically and from low-cost to luxury experiences. Expanding through acquisition and partnership, and seeing strong growth in its core UK market, the company has fully capitalised on the growing trend towards "staycations" and is building growth through strategic acquisition."

Judges for the awards include Martin Gardner, Partner at Grant Thornton; Edward Wray, Chairman of Betfair; Clare Parsons, Chairman at Lansons Communications; and Mark Scott, CEO of Cello Group.

The results of the award will be announced on 9th November at the National Business Awards ceremony and gala dinner at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
