In Honor of National Pizza Month, UNO(R) Franchise Announces 'World's Greatest Pizza Maker Contest'

You Build it, UNO Bakes It: Winners Get Pizza Featured at UNO Restaurants & Free Pizza for a Year!

BOSTON // PRNewswire // -- In honor of National Pizza Month (October), UNO® is giving its Facebook fans an opportunity to earn the title of "World's Greatest Pizza Maker", and a chance to win free pizza for a year! The winning pizzas will also be featured in participating UNO locations for a limited time.

"Our guests can show off their creativity by using a custom-designed pizza builder application on our Facebook page [] to build the pizza of their dreams, name the pizza and write a description," said Rick Hendrie, UNO's head of marketing. "This pizza creation will automatically be entered into the contest for our Facebook fans to vote on."

The competition will take place in October, with voting during the month of November. Winners will be announced in December.

Five (5) winning pizzas will be chosen based on fan votes for superlative categories including:

  • Most Mouthwatering Creation
  • Most Creative Name
  • Best Description
  • Most Outrageous
  • Best In Show

Following the online competition, UNO Executive Chef Chris Gatto will pick three winning pizzas to be featured at UNO locations during the month of January. Winning entries receive Free Pizza for a Year (one all-natural thin crust or regular sized deep dish per month) and will be featured at participating UNO restaurants. Additionally there will be 10 free pizza winners (one all-natural thin crust or regular sized deep dish).

"Our 'World's Greatest Pizza Maker' contest allows our dedicated fans to get more involved with UNO and help spread the word about the brand via a popular social media channel," said Hendrie. "It also allows us to give back to our fans through the potential of having their pizza creation featured at UNO!"
