San Marcos Johnny Rockets Franchise Celebrates Texas State University Homecoming With Slider-Eating Contest

Winner receives hamburgers for a year; all students receive 20 percent discount, every day

LAKE FOREST, Calif. // PRNewswire // -- Johnny Rockets is where the good times roll at Texas State University, hosting a homecoming slider-eating competition on Oct. 23. While the competition is only open to the first 12 students to register, all students can enjoy free mini-sliders, mini-hot dogs, shakes and a game of soda "Rocket Pong" for a chance to win great prizes.

Starting at 9 a.m., Johnny Rockets will fuel up fans at its tailgate booth on the main strip of Bobcat Alley, leading into Bobcat Stadium. The slider competition will begin at 2 p.m. and the winner will receive free hamburgers for a year, a cash prize and Johnny Rockets branded merchandise.

"In addition to student discounts and fundraising dinners, our tailgating party is just one more way we can support the students," said Heather Frantz, general manager of the Johnny Rockets at San Marcos Premium Outlets in San Marcos. "We are excited to turn this event into an annual competition and will be at every game this year to cheer the Bobcats on to victory."

Throughout the year, students can receive a 20 percent discount with their student ID at the San Marcos Premium Outlets Johnny Rockets, which features all-American favorites including juicy hamburgers, American fries and hand-dipped shakes. In addition, the location accepts proposals for student fundraisers that consist of 20 percent of the sales going back to the student's designated nonprofit group.

"This slider-eating event is what Johnny Rockets is all about – great all-American food and fun," said Janet Gillmore, field marketing manager for Johnny Rockets. "The San Marcos location has been successful because it takes care of the Texas State University students, and is a wonderful model for our other restaurants near college campuses."

Johnny Rockets operates six restaurants in Texas including four Six Flags locations. For more information about Johnny Rockets or franchising partnership opportunities go to www.johnnyrockets.com.
