Great Clips moves up to 85 in the Franchise Times TOP 200

November 16, 2010 // Franchising.com // Once again Great Clips was recognized as one of the TOP 200 largest franchise systems in the U.S. by worldwide sales as reported in the October issue of Franchise Times magazine.

"We moved up five sports from 90 to 85 and increased our advantage over the nearest hair-care competitors," said Rob Goggins, vice president of franchise development for Great Clips, Inc.

Franchise Times speculated that most franchise chains "were happy to turn the page on 2009." Hotels, real estate agencies, home-improvement companies and staffing agencies "could not escape the recession's shadow."

McDonald's was number one followed by 43 other food franchises in the top 100. There were also another 25 hotel chains in the top 100. "Great Clips was one of the few non-food and hotel chains to rank in the top 100, the top tier of the rankings," added Goggins.

The Franchise Times Top 200 is based on a combination of companies' self-reported sales and unit counts, as well as other public information.

Great Clips recently recorded its 24th consecutive quarter of sales growth and 19th consecutive quarter of customer growth. "We continue to lead our category as the world's largest hair salon brand," said Goggins, "and if you look at the Franchise Times Top 200, we rank higher than other well-known franchise brands like Zaxby's, Jackson Hewitt, Howard Johnson, and Meineke."
