December 16, 2010 // Franchising.com // Columbia, MD. — Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries, known for its fresh, made to order hand pattied burgers and fresh cut fries, has signed a development deal with new franchisee Koteswara Aluri for Fairfax County, Virginia. Aluri's first restaurant, slated to open in April of 2011, will be located at the West Springfield Shopping Center in Springfield, Virginia. Aluri's company, Boardwalk Fairfax, LLC, will be developing a total of 5 Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries restaurants over the next four years. Mr. Aluri is currently evaluating real estate sites for the second restaurant in Fairfax County.
Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has restaurants open in Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Pennsylvania, California, and Florida. While it continues aggressive expansion in these markets, it also has development plans in place for New Jersey and Michigan, with a total of 160 new restaurants in development nationwide.
Mr. Aluri, a serial entrepreneur with investments in the hotel, financial and banking industries for many years, had this to say, "There are three reasons why we chose Boardwalk over its competitors. First, I found its fresh burgers and fries much tastier and bigger than other chains. Second, the choices in menu appeal to a wider section of people. The third reason I chose it – and probably most importantly - is because Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries presents a clean and colorful ambience, rather than the dull, boring and greasy atmosphere I found in the other fresh burger places."
Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has expanded rapidly in the United States, attracting several restaurant industry veterans including the former CEO of Caribou Coffee and former COO of Jersey Mike's. Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries also recently announced the appointment of Kert Gennings as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Gennings brings decades of restaurant experience to the concept, having previously served as President of RGI, a restaurant consulting company, and COO for leading brands in the industry including Chesapeake Bagel Bakery and Jersey Mikes Franchise Company. His appointment comes at an opportune time to better serve franchisees like Mr. Aluri and other area developers and multi-unit franchisees as Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries continues to expand rapidly across the country.
Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries brings the boardwalk experience to life, providing customers with made to order, fresh ground, hand pattied beef burgers and fresh-cut Boardwalk fries cooked in 100% peanut oil in a family atmosphere. The New York Times ranked Boardwalk Fries on their 2008 baseball stadium culinary scorecard, and AOL Small Business listed Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries in their 2009 "Next Big Chain" report.
As the sister company of Boardwalk Fries - the only national french fry brand in the United States - Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries has nearly 30 years of corporate brand recognition. Brothers, Dave and Fran DiFerdinando created the fast casual concept Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries in 2007. Inspired by the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland, the concept provides customers with a fresh, made to order burger and fries experience in a family-friendly environment.
