BLIMPIE(R) franchisee opens third restaurant on Long Island, NY

January 18, 2011 // Franchising.com // Patrick Conlin, Blimpie(R) area developer, announced that multi-unit franchisee, Naseem Cheema, has opened his third Blimpie franchise restaurant on Long Island, in Deer Park, in Suffolk County, NY. The high-traffic location is in a major industrial park shopping center near a booming outlet mall.

"Naseem came to the United States in 1994 from Pakistan and opened his first Blimpie restaurant in 1996 in Hauppauge, in Suffolk County, NY," said Conlin. "Naseem opened his second Blimpie restaurant in Westbury, in Nassau County, NY in 1999."

"I earned a law degree in Pakistan, but my brother who was here encouraged me to move to the United States and start a business," said Cheema. "I looked at several business opportunities, but the Blimpie franchise had everything I was looking for: a proven business model, a quality product, experienced support, and loyal customers."

"Our Blimpie franchise restaurants are popular on Long island, and that's why we are getting a lot of inquiries about our franchise opportunity," said Conlin. The first Blimpie restaurant opened in 1964 in Hoboken, NJ, with a simple idea: stack freshly sliced meats and cheeses custom prepared on fresh-baked breads right in from of the customer. Today there are nearly 900 non-cooking restaurants nationwide.

"In addition to the new Deer Park location, we just signed a new Blimpie franchisee in West Babylon in Suffolk County, NY, whose restaurant is under construction and scheduled to open in February 2011," said Conlin. We recently opened a Blimpie and Great Steak & Potato Co. location in the Smith Haven Mall—the main mall for the 'Mid Island' area in Lake Grove, NY."
