Shannon Toler-New, 1-800-DryClean(R) franchise president, achieves Certified Franchise Executive designation

February 16, 2011 // Franchising.com // Shannon Toler-New, president of 1-800-DryClean franchise, was formally recognized as a Certified Franchise Executive by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives. To earn this prestigious designation, she completed a comprehensive course of study in franchise management offered by the institute, which is the academic branch of the International Franchise Association's Educational Foundation. The International Franchise Association honored her during its annual convention in Las Vegas this week.

"When I joined IFA as President and CEO, I was immediately impressed by the number of highly respected franchise executives who have earned their CFE designation," said IFA Chief Executive, Stephen J. Caldeira. "I was also equally impressed by the increasing number of franchise executives who have enrolled in the program. In fact, the value of the program was so apparent and powerful to me that I decided to earn my CFE as well. I'm delighted that Shannon and I are members of the CFE Class of 2011."

Shannon joined Service Brands International (SBI) in 1999 and was instrumental in the launch of the 1-800-DryClean franchise in early 2000. She has served in several roles at 1-800-DryClean, from Director of Franchise Services to Senior Vice President. Shannon owned drycleaning delivery routes with her husband Darrell New in Florida for 10 years before joining SBI. While operating the business, Shannon received her bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida in 1992. In 1993, they began franchising their drycleaning delivery service, and in 1999 it caught the eye of SBI. Having spent time in "their shoes" Shannon has a true passion for 1-800-DryClean franchise owners, and she is committed to growing the brand and making each franchise a success. "Franchising drycleaning delivery has been my life project," she says, "and leading a Service Brands International company is a dream come true." Nearly 1,300 franchise executives are currently enrolled or have received certification. More than 300 IFA-member companies currently have one or more executives enrolled in the program that provides benefits such as specialized knowledge, industry recognition, peer-level networking and professional standing.
