Massage Envy(R) Announces Expansion in Sacramento and San Francisco's East Bay Region

First New Center to Open in 2011 and Others Over the Next Several Years

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 9, 2011 // PRNewswire // -- Massage Envy, the pioneer and national leader of affordable and convenient massage and spa services, announced today the signing of a multi-unit Regional Developer agreement with John Choi, Sherif Boctor and Joseph Abdallah for the development of 25 new centers over the next 7 to 10 years in Sacramento and the San Francisco East Bay regions.

Massage Envy's development throughout Sacramento and the East Bay is part of a steady and strategic plan being implemented by the brand, which includes expanding in existing markets while entering new cities across the country to help drive the growth of the world's largest system of franchised massage centers.

Choi, Boctor and Abdallah are principals of PSG Certified Public Accountants with decades of experience in the financial industry.

"We look forward to using our collective business experience to expand Massage Envy's presence across Sacramento and the East Bay regions," said Choi. "After years of assisting business clients to focus on the health of their business, we are excited to focus on providing guests the ability to take charge of their personal health and wellness through Massage Envy's full range of convenient, affordable and professional spa and massage services."

In 2010, Massage Envy experienced unprecedented growth with the opening of 43 new locations, bringing the total number of locations currently to more than 660 units operating in 43 states. In addition, since introducing its Massage Envy Spa® concept in late 2009, the company has opened or converted a record of more than 280 spa locations in 37 states. Despite the recession, Massage Envy also has experienced a 29 percent growth in membership, increasing from 701,000 members in 2009 to over 900,000 members in 2010.

In fact, last year, the company performed its 20 millionth massage. Net sales for franchisees have grown as well. For the 530 centers that have been open for more than 12 months as of Dec. 31, 2009, they have averaged $885,700 in annual net sales. The company also is the world's largest employer of licensed/registered massage therapists with more than 16,000 therapists providing over 250,000 massages every week.

In addition to the development agreement mentioned above, Massage Envy is seeking new and existing franchisees to expand across the country with Massage Envy Spa. To fuel this growth, the company is looking for specific franchisee candidates who have the ability and the desire to learn and follow a system that ensures value and customer satisfaction.

"Massage Envy welcomes this new team to the Sacramento and San Francisco East Bay markets," said Massage Envy CEO David Humphrey. "As businessmen who have dedicated long hours to ensuring the success of their clients, they recognize the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle focused on wellness. Our success in Sacramento and East Bay will stem directly from their passion to share that knowledge and provide affordable and accessible massage therapy and skincare treatments for their guests."

With such a strong established brand, Massage Envy has programs available to assist with financing.
