Mister Sparky Comes through in Clutch for ABC TV Show

Early one Thursday morning back in February, Cherie Jester, the GM at the Atlantic, VA Mister Sparky received an urgent call. But it wasn't a frantic family with no hot water or a bachelor with a clogged drain; it was the producers of a television show. And not just any television show, ABC's wildly popular Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

They were at the build site ready to film, but a number of their plumbers bailed at the last minute. They needed help ASAP. It was asking a lot, but when the Jesters and their employees heard about the family who would be enjoying the new home, they couldn't say "no."

Beverly Hill has been sharing her love for life for longer than 15 years with 35-plus foster kids. And it doesn't stop there; Hill continues to strengthen the surrounding community through her mission to feed and clothe the homeless. After raising her two biological children, Beverly and her husband Fred formally adopted six foster girls, who today range in age from nine to eighteen

"Being on the Eastern Shore, we didn't even know there was a Virginia Beach project going on," Cherie said. "It was a complete surprise to us, but we wanted to be a part of helping in any way that we could. And what a great opportunity for our brands to have their names out there as organizations that want to give back and help people. It's the sort of thing we all want to be associated with."

After a couple nights in hotels and very early mornings, the team was proud to say they had been part of something very big and very good. Where at one point that weekend sat remnants of a house, now stood a sparkling new home, perfectly equipped for the large family.

The episode airs Sunday, April 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
