Wingstop Lands in Seattle-Tacoma

Rapidly-expanding wing chain signs development agreement for 15 locations

May 11, 2011 // Franchising.com // RICHARDSON, Texas – Wingstop, one of the nation's fastest-growing chicken wing chains, has announced a development agreement to open 15 restaurants in Seattle-Tacoma. The company, which has 480 locations and has experienced more than seven years of same store sales increases, recently signed a franchise agreement to open its first restaurants in the city.

The restaurants will be operated by Emerald Sound Wings, LLC of Sammamish, Wash., with the first location scheduled to open in early 2012.

As the first multi-unit Wingstop operator in California, Emerald Sound Wings was instrumental in developing the Los Angeles area, which today includes more than 50 Wingstop locations. Now, Wingstop says the time is right to duplicate that success in Seattle.

"We have amazing franchise partners and operators in Emerald Sound Wings," said David Vernon, vice president of franchise sales for Wingstop. "They helped lay the groundwork for growing the brand throughout Los Angeles, and we believe Seattle-Tacoma, with its demographics and population density, is a perfect fit for Wingstop."

With a sole focus on cooked-to-order chicken wings, the Wingstop menu features traditional and boneless wings sauced and tossed in nine proprietary flavors including Original Hot, Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan, and side dishes like fresh-cut, seasoned fries.

"Our ultimate goal is to open 25 locations in the next few years," added Vernon. "There's really nothing like the Wingstop concept in Seattle. There is a very loyal following across the U.S. and I'm sure the same will happen here. Once people try the food, they're hooked."
