Fast-casual Soup Restaurant to Host Fundraiser in Support of Local Community

June 29, 2011 // Franchising.com // SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – On the heels of the company's first opening in Denver at the Sheraton Downtown Denver Hotel, Zoup! Fresh Soup Company will be opening their second Colorado restaurant location at the Shops at Greenwood Village, located at 9672 E. Arapahoe Road in Greenwood Village.

Scheduled to open June 30, 2011, local owner Tim McKennie will be hosting a grand opening fundraiser event on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. From 5:00 – 8:00 pm, customers can visit the new store and purchase a bowl of soup, a hunk of bread and a drink for only $5. 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Greenwood Village Elementary School.

"What better way to celebrate the grand opening of our restaurant than to show our support to the community and host an event that can benefit many local area families," McKennie said.

While visiting relatives in Detroit, Tim discovered Zoup! and formed a liking for the concept. After spending more than 15 years in the construction industry, Tim decided to switch directions in his career after relocating to Greenwood Village with his family. With the active lifestyles that Greenwood Village residents live, Tim decided Zoup! would be a great concept to bring to the local market.

"I am excited to continue Zoup!'s expansion in the local market and bring a restaurant option to Greenwood Village that is different from your typical restaurants," said McKennie. "We will be offering one-of-a-kind soup creations that will be affordable and convenient for both families and business professionals."

Zoup! features hundreds of award-winning soups with 12 rotating daily varieties, including low-fat, vegetarian, dairy-free, low-points and gluten-free options. Menu items include low-fat soups such as Veggie Waves of Grain, Old Fashion Chicken Noodle and Frontier 7 Bean, dairy-free soups like the Mulligatawny and Sesame Noodle Bowl, vegetarian soups, including Tomato Bisque and Spicy Italian Vegetable, low-points options such as Spicy Black Bean Chili and Wild Mushroom Barley and gluten-free choices such like the Tomato Spinach and Brown Rice. Customer favorites also include Chicken Pot Pie, Lobster Bisque and Vegetarian Split Pea.
