Jamba Juice Hosts U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis

U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis Visits with Company Executives to Discuss Youth Employment, Tours Jamba's Innovation Center with Job Corp Students

EMERYVILLE, Calif., Jul 22, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Jamba Juice Company (NASDAQ:JMBA), a leading healthy, active lifestyle company, rolled out the red carpet for a visit from Obama Administration Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. The Secretary was joined by advanced culinary students enrolled at the nearby Treasure Island Job Corps Center. Secretary Solis' visit included a roundtable discussion with Job Corps students and Company representatives on the future of jobs and careers in the culinary/food service industry.

"We were delighted to host Secretary Solis at our Company headquarters. Over the last several months we have worked closely with the Labor Department to provide jobs for young people across the country so that they can earn much needed funds to put towards their education and family needs," said James D. White, chairman, president and CEO, Jamba Juice Company. "President Obama and Secretary Solis have demonstrated a strong commitment to assuring youth employment and we are glad to do our part in support of these initiatives."

Secretary Solis' visit comes on the heels of Jamba's announcement in May to put 2,500 youth to work this summer in response to the Department of Labor's SummerJobs USA challenge. To date, Jamba has hired almost 2,700 young people as a part of that challenge and remains committed to helping America's youth find employment.

"Summer jobs help introduce young people to the demands of the workplace and the skills employers want to see, but they also help young people envision possibilities and explore interests that can become life-long careers. Employers like Jamba Juice understand this, and have made a strong commitment to expanding opportunities for our youth," said Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.

In addition to career discussions with Jamba Juice team members, Secretary Solis and meeting participants toured the Company's test kitchen where Jamba's All Fruit(TM), Fruit and Veggie, and Fruit Refreshers with Coconut Water smoothies as well as other innovative, better-for-you menu offerings are created and tested.
