August 01, 2011 // Franchising.com // CARMEL, Ind. – J.D. Byrider, the nation's largest franchised used car sales and finance business, opened five new dealerships in the last two months, for a total of eight new stores so far in 2011. J.D. Byrider now has 132 locations in 30 states.

The new dealerships are in the following locations:

  • Wood River, Ill. – January 2011

  • North Little Rock, Ark. – May 2011
  • Morgantown, W.V. – June 2011
  • Las Vegas – July 2011
  • Louisville, Ky. – July 2011
  • Columbus, Ohio – July 2011
  • Dayton, Ohio – August 2011

Two of the eight new dealerships are company-owned locations – Louisville, Ky., and Columbus, Ohio – with the rest owned by franchisees.

"We're excited about our growth in 2011, which was fueled in part by the investment made in the company by Altamont Capital Partners," said J.D. Byrider CEO Steve Wedding of the company's acquisition by the private investment firm, which was completed in May 2011. "We plan to continue that growth through the opening of five additional locations later this year and even more next year."
