Motel 6 Celebrates Grand Re-opening in Mississauga, Ontario

Location Showcases Stylish New Look, Celebrates Pet-Friendly Legacy

August 31, 2011 // Franchising.com // MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – Motel 6 celebrated the grand re-opening of its renovated Mississauga, Ontario, location on Thursday, August 18, 2011, alongside local dignitaries and Motel 6 leadership. Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, and Councillor Pat Siato joined Motel 6's executive vice president of franchise, procurement and international development, Bernard Rudler, and community guests for the event. The celebration included speeches, a ribbon-cutting, tours of the renovated rooms and several canine guests commemorating the brand's long-standing pet-friendly policy.

"Motel 6 Mississauga is the first existing Motel 6 location in Canada to receive the Phoenix design renovation," said Bernard Rudler, EVP of franchise, procurement and international development for Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6. "We are proud to be part of the vibrant growth of the city by bringing the new look of Motel 6 to Mississauga, and it was an honor to share the occasion with Mayor McCallion."

The award-winning room design boasts a modern, European-chic look, including sleek new features such as wood-effect laminate flooring; bright color scheme; 32-inch flat-screen TVs and black granite bathroom countertops. Guestrooms are equipped with a multi-media panel with A/V plug-ins for mp3 players, video game systems and laptop computers as well as free Wi-Fi Internet access.

In addition to its modern styling, the Phoenix design incorporates a number of environmentally-friendly features. The renovated rooms feature Motel 6's current energy management practices including a fluorescent light bulb and battery recycling program, reduced water consumption with low-flow aerators for faucets and shower heads, and 1.1 gallon low-flow toilets. The wood-effect laminate flooring is made of 80 percent pre-consumer recycled material.

In Canada, Motel 6 has a network of 20 locations covering the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and New Brunswick. Currently, Motel 6 locations in select markets across the United States and Canada are being renovated with elements of the new design. For more information on Motel 6, please visit www.motel6.com.
