WSI Internet Franchise Hosts "Make a Difference Day: FUNFEST 2011" in Toronto to Bring Awareness to Child Poverty
Hundreds of Families Joined WSI for "Make a Difference Day: FUNFEST 2011" and Supported Its Make Child Poverty History (MCPH) Initiative.
Toronto, Canada, September 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hundreds of families came out to Centre Island in Toronto, Canada on Saturday for Make a Difference Day: FUNFEST 2011 hosted by WSI, the world's #1 Internet franchise. The event was organized in support of the company's Make Child Poverty History (MCPH) program, a global initiative that mobilizes resources and brings together individuals and organizations in an effort to eradicate child poverty.
Ron McArthur, president of WSI, says, "Social responsibility is one of WSI's core principles, and we strive to serve as a catalyst to help eradicate child poverty around the world in many different ways through our Make Child Poverty History (MCPH) program. From corporate and individual child sponsorships to fundraising events and donation drives, our global network of Internet franchisees and suppliers help to support the MCPH cause. Our first ever Make a Difference Day: FUNFEST 2011 is just one of the unique platforms where helping hands came together for a day of fun while also making a difference. We were very pleased to see hundreds of families join us, several sponsors support us and dozens of volunteers help make the event happen."
With several festivities, such as a BBQ and refreshments, bouncy castles, obstacle courses and games, families and children of all ages enjoyed a day of fun while also raising awareness of child poverty around the world. All proceeds from the event were donated to Make Child Poverty History (MCPH), and additional donations were collected by attendees and event sponsors to further support this initiative. Through this event, WSI raised funds to sponsor more children around the world.
"Complete with activities for children of all ages, our Make a Difference Day was truly a 'funfest' for families who were on Centre Island," says Marissa Divina, one of the event organizers. "The MCPH team was very encouraged to see such a great turnout at the event and the level of enthusiasm displayed by our dozens of volunteers. The helping hands from both within the WSI organization and external to the company really contributed to creating this funfest experience."
"We had a great line-up of sponsors that showed outstanding support for this event and the MCPH cause," says Pamela Aristodemo, co-organizer of Make a Difference Day. "Every sponsor that was part of this event - from our media sponsor, Z 103.5, to our corporate sponsors, MedGlobal, Search Results, M3-Social Mindz, Key27 Marketing, Hanh Salon and Spa and more - helped make this event possible. On behalf of the MCPH team and WSI Internet Franchise, we extend a sincere thanks to our sponsors, charity partners and community supporters."
WSI has always been an active force in its initiatives to help sponsor children around the world. Over the past 6 years, as a founding member of Make Child Poverty History, WSI Internet Franchise continues to give back to those in need by organizing fundraising campaigns to sponsor additional children each year.
