Cafe? Yumm! Uses BPA-Free Register Paper
September 26, 2011 // Franchising.com // Most thermal paper used in cash register machines in restaurants and retail stores contains Bisphenol A (BPA). Use of BPA is controversial because it is an estrogen-mimicking chemical that when ingested is linked to a host of physical ailments. Cafe? Yumm! is proud to announce that it only uses BPA-free thermal paper in its Point of Sale Systems (otherwise known as cash registers).
"Eliminating the taint of BPA in even the smallest amounts is important and the right thing for us to do," explains Co-founder Mark Beauchamp. "While the price of BPA-free paper is slightly higher than BPA-tainted paper, we believe that price will drop over the long term as more businesses switch," said Mr. Beauchamp.
There are currently only two mills in the U.S. that produce BPA-free thermal paper. Supply is limited, but Cafe? Yumm! has developed a vendor relationship that will ensure uninterrupted delivery of BPA-free paper to all Cafe? Yumm! restaurants.
