Pizza Inn Opens Second Location in Abilene, TexasBuffet Restaurant and Delivery Service Now Answers More Demand Throughout the City

ABILENE, Texas, Sept. 21, 2011 // GLOBE NEWSWIRE // -- It's double the love in Abilene, Texas, with the opening of a second location today for Pizza Inn, Inc. (Nasdaq:PZZI). The international pizza chain, recognized for serving a variety of fresh, popular traditional and specialty pizzas, opened doors to its newest restaurant at 4138 Ridgemont Drive.

Franchise owners Charles Verner, Russ Verner and Gene Gonger, ramped up for the new Pizza Inn after the success of their first location at 849 N. Judge Ely Blvd. in the north part of town.

"We could see that Pizza Inn was a growing chain with a lot of room for expansion," said Russ Verner about their decision to add a restaurant on the south side.

The new buffet restaurant seats 160 people, employs 57 people, and offers delivery service, allowing Pizza Inn to reach demand throughout the city.

For the owners, it's all about creating jobs, growing an iconic brand and serving the best pizza in town.

"For all three of us, it was our favorite when we were kids," Russ says. "It's a classic that still draws people in."

Today, those three kids are seasoned restaurant veterans with a taste for quality food. And reintroducing the menu that people have loved for more than five decades in a stylish, new design has been just the right recipe. Customers can enjoy the pizza buffet, a full salad bar, sandwiches, pasta, pizzerts and more.

Russ and Gene, who started out as cooks at a Sonic drive-in in high school, now count 14 Sonic restaurants and two Pizza Inn restaurants among their investments. Charles joined the group to partner in the Pizza Inn locations after a career as an electrical engineer.

The restaurant will be open 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Sundays – Thursdays, and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
