CousinsSubs(R) to Celebrate Prairie Du Chien Grand Opening with FoodDrive
Community event to celebrate new location by helping those in need
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (October 7, 2011) - Cousins Subs® at 85 Riverside Square in Prairie du Chien will welcome customers to its new location by hosting a community food drive from Wednesday, Oct. 12 to Saturday, Oct. 22. Guests bringing in 3 items or more will receive a coupon for a free 7 ½-inch sub with the purchase of a large beverage on their next visit. All donated goods will go to Couleecap, Inc. of Prairie du Chien.
"We're very excited to unveil this new location by helping our local food pantry," said David Shihata, co-owner of Cousins Subs along with his wife, Linda. "We saw the story in the Courier Press about the dire need for food at food pantries and we knew we could help."
According to Karen Redman, a food coordinator with Couleecap, the food pantry serves more than 200 families a month, and this year has been exceptionally hard.
"Community involvement is a big part of what Cousins Subs is all about," said Linda Shihata. "We encourage everyone to help our local food pantry, come and see our beautiful new store and enjoy a delicious Cousins Sub."
Donation items are limited to non-perishable, non-expired goods only. Couleecap particularly needs the following items: canned fruit, dry milk, canned milk, 100% fruit/vegetable juice, jelly, peanut butter, tuna, canned chicken, cereal, canned soup and rice. Donating items that are healthier is encouraged, the Couleecap suggests canned fruit in its own juice or light syrup, whole grain cereal, brown rice, tuna in water and low-sodium soups.
