Jamba Juice and CAHPERD Ramping Up in Bid to Jump Over Guinness World Record

Let's Jump California!--Jamba Invites the Active Lifestyle State to Help Raise Awareness of the Obesity Issue Facing our Nation's Youth and Support the National Geographic Kids Goal to Break Guinness World Record(TM) Title for the "Most People Doing Jumping Jacks for One Minute Over 24 Hour Period"

EMERYVILLE, Calif., Oct 11, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- (NASDAQ: JMBA) -- Jamba Juice Company and the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD) encourage Californian's -- young and old alike -- to show their support to keep California's children healthy and active by joining the 2011 National Geographic Kids and Jamba Juice "Let's Jump! Team Up for a Healthy America" jumping jacks event -- a mass attempt to break the Guinness World Record title for the "Most People Doing Jumping Jacks" on October 11-12, 2011.

"Let's Jump!/ Team Up" supports first lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign, which encourages kids and families to get healthy and active. To break the record, more than 20,425 people need to complete one minute of jumping jacks between 3 p.m. EST October 11 and 3 p.m. EST October 12, 2011. Mrs. Obama is scheduled to kick off the 24-hour period with one minute of jumping jacks at the White House at 3 p.m. EST today. The live feed can be seen here: http://wh.gov/live.

Jamba Juice is hosting jump sites in more than 60 stores across California as well as in select stores in New York, Maryland, Florida, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and Louisiana. The Jamba events kick off in Maryland at 3:30 p.m. EST. For a complete listing of all participating locations and times and to take a pledge to jump and help break the record, visit Jamba's Team Up for a Healthy America website, www.teamupandpledge.com.

This is the second time Jamba Juice and CAHPERD have partnered to support a healthy lifestyle event. In 2010, they joined forces and broke the Guinness World Record title for most people skipping/jumping rope, getting over 88,000 Californians to jump. "Jamba Juice is always looking for fun ways to encourage people to make better lifestyle choices -- both through exercise and good eating habits," said Susan Shields, senior vice president and CMO, Jamba Juice Company. "Participating in an event that supports a healthy activity everyone can enjoy, while breaking a Guinness World Record title, is exciting for all of us."

In addition to CAPHERD and Jamba Juice, other notable supporters of this effort include National Geographic Education; the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition; Macerich Malls; National Recreation and Park Association; SparkPeople.com; Let's Move in School, an American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) initiative; Flash Mob America; Girl Scouts of the USA; We Can!
