Volvo Rents 'Digging' Its Way Into Phoenix

Provider of small-to-medium sized construction equipment acquires Papé Rents; Looks to capitalize on projected growth of local construction spending

October 20, 2011 // Franchising.com // Asheville, NC – Volvo Rents announces the acquisition of Papé Rents, a single location construction equipment rental company located at 3820 E. Winslow Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona.

Anchored by an increase in local construction spending that is projected to total more than $44 billion in the Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale marketplace between 2012 and 2016, Volvo Rents is looking to grab a bigger piece of the construction equipment rental pie that is currently up for grabs in the region. To capitalize on the economic upturn, Volvo Rents is embarking on a new course -- growing a network of company-owned stores.

The acquisition marks the fifth Volvo Rents store in Arizona and first in Phoenix. The other rental centers are located in Eloy, Miami, Thatcher and Tucson.

“We are able to add Don Myrick and his top-notch staff to the Volvo Rents Team, which was the real key in this acquisition,” said Mike Crouch, Vice President of Business Development for Volvo Rents. “Our strong brand recognition, coupled with the growing demand for construction equipment rental, allows us to look to the future with great enthusiasm” Crouch continued.

In addition to Volvo Rents’ expanding line of Volvo compact equipment – such as backhoe and skid steer loaders, compact wheel loaders, compact excavators and compaction equipment – the rental centers carry a comprehensive line of essential equipment and tools for the construction, commercial, industrial and homeowner markets. The focus is on daily, weekly and monthly rentals.
Although the store’s hours will be Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the company offers 24-hour service, every day of the week.
“That local oversight is crucial to the Volvo Rents approach,” Crouch added. “Ten percent of our customers do 80 percent of the business, and giving them a VIP level of service is paramount.”
