Children's Fund Donates $100,000 To Save The Children To Assist With Relief Efforts Following Monsoon Rains In Thailand

Donation Will Help Save the Children Provide Relief to Children and Families Affected by Floods Throughout Thailand

November 01, 2011 // Franchising.com // WAYNE, NJ – As part of its ongoing commitment to keep children safe and help them in times of need, the Toys"R"Us Children’s Fund today announced a $100,000 donation to help Save the Children in its efforts to provide immediate relief to victims of flooding in Thailand caused by heavy monsoon rains affecting the region over the past several months. Toys"R"Us, Inc. currently operates nine stores in Thailand, and has nearly 100 employees in the country.

Save the Children has served children in Thailand for more than 30 years, and estimates that 800,000 children are among those now in urgent need of relief services. The organization is currently focused on delivering aid and helping to keep children safe by organizing child-friendly spaces at evacuation centers, while distributing essential food, diapers, mosquito nets, and hygiene supplies for families with children, as well as other relief by truck and boat.

“When a company moves as fast as Toys"R"Us to help children in dire need, it speaks of tremendous compassion and humanity, and we are profoundly grateful for this contribution,” said Carolyn Miles, president and CEO of Save the Children. “The Save the Children staff in Thailand is moving quickly to support children and families, and will be able to do even more thanks to the generous support of Toys"R"Us.”

Toys"R"Us, Inc. and the Toys"R"Us Children's Fund, a public charity affiliated with the company, together have a partnership with Save the Children to offer support in situations where children need urgent assistance as a result of large-scale disasters in the U.S. and around the world. To date, the company has donated more than $3.5 million to Save the Children to assist with its humanitarian efforts.
