Charitable Partnership Collects Thousands of Soles for Needy Souls Around the World

1-800-GOT-JUNK? and National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) team up to send shoes for those who need them overseas.

New Jersey (PRWEB) November 18, 2011 - We’ve all heard how people love to buy shoes. Well, now there’s an opportunity for New Jersey residents to feel better about their addiction. The National Association of Professional Organizers – Northern New Jersey chapter (NAPO-NNJ) and 1-800-GOT-JUNK? are both partners in a national program called Soles4Souls and have teamed up to drive a local shoe collection for charity that’s unprecedented in size. To date over 12,000 pairs of shoes have been collected, with a goal of 15,000 by the end of the campaign, December 15th.

NAPO has challenged its members across the country to collect as many shoes as possible. Currently, local professional organizer, Diane Thomson, of Creative Organizing, LLC is in the lead to win a trip to Haiti to help distribute shoes. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is currently in discussions with the national charity to offer a similar challenge to its franchise partners across the country.

Soles4Souls is a national charity with a simple mission to collect shoes and distribute them to people in need. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 13 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 7 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States. Soles4Souls is a 501(c)(3) recognized by the IRS and donating parties are eligible for tax advantages.

Soles4Souls offers a simple way to help reduce the strain on our environment. Last year alone, Americans discarded more than 300 million pairs of shoes. When these shoes break down in our landfills, the toxic glue that holds the shoes together can leak into our water supply and atmosphere.

The current goal is to collect 12 Million pairs of shoes by June 30th, 2012. NAPO members and 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise partners across the country are thrilled to be involved in a charity that is a natural fit with their business models and puts smiles on the faces of people around the world.
