Ground Round Opening Two More Restaurants And Re-entering Markets Where The Brand Is Known!

November 30, 2011 // Franchising.com // Ground Round Grill and Bar is re-emerging in familiar major markets. Mid-November saw the opening in the Cleveland market in Elyria, Ohio, and in the Philadelphia market, Langhorne, PA is slated to open in December. The restaurants feature a new menu, upgraded restaurant designs and Ground Round's familiar two room layout, offering a separate dining room for families and sports bar and lounge for adults to meet friends. "We're excited to return to these markets and welcome guests to see we're not only back, but even better than they remember," states Jack Crawford, President & CEO of Ground Round Independent Owners Cooperative (IOC). "All four of our 2011 openings were conversion projects and we are opening a newly designed, prototype building in Waconia, MN in early 2012."

"Our franchise owners are motivated to expand as they not only own their own restaurant, but they also have the option to purchase and own a membership/ ownership share in our company, which provides them with a preferred royalty rate, ownership stake, and direct input in the future success and growth of our company," says Gary Serino, Treasurer and CFO of the brand. "Our franchise programs also offer flexible 5 or 10 year term options, automatic annual renewals, and there is no multi-unit development requirement."

The Ground Round also introduced a smaller prototype brand called Ground Round Sports Grille for non-traditional development, such as airports, bowling centers and tourist destinations. "The Sports Grilles operate from a smaller footprint and with a "pub style" menu featuring fewer entrees and more sandwiches, salads and appetizers," adds Crawford. "The two brands and flexible designs provide our operators with options to grow in varying spaces and development opportunities."
