December 02, 2011 // Franchising.com // Wilmington, Del. - Home health innovator Guava Healthcare (www.guavahealthcare.com) announced the launch of its new franchise business, and the appointment of franchising industry veterans Ken Caldwell and Kevin Pike to the company’s leadership team. Following the development of a distinctive franchise network model and supporting technology platform, Guava Franchising (http://franchise.guavahealthcare.com/) has embarked on an aggressive push to attract qualified franchisees and expects to announce its first wave of deals soon.
Guava Healthcare offers a full array of medical and non-medical services including personal care services, in-home medical care, pediatric care, and staffing. Unique to its model through the proprietary Guava Building Block Healthcare System™, the company systematically guides franchisees from one phase of development to the next enabling franchisees to build a broad spectrum of revenue streams over time. Additionally, the Guava model caters to franchisees by providing full back-of-house support, ensuring franchisees are not burdened with administrative functions and can focus on marketing and growing their businesses. Guava President Mary S. Schreiber, PhD., a healthcare industry veteran, recognized the opportunity presented by baby boomers looking to age in place and started Guava in 2006. In its first year, her home-based business grossed more than $1.6 million servicing just 55 clients.
“Franchising is the natural progression for a successful home health care company, and with the addition of Ken and Kevin to our team I’m confident the exceptionally franchise-friendly model we’ve developed will enable us to make a huge splash in the industry,” said Schreiber.
Ken Caldwell was a partner with Paradise Foods, the franchising company for Heavenly Ham (HH), which he helped grow from 10 units to 220 before it was sold to HoneyBaked Ham (HBH). As vice president of Franchise and Retail Operations of HBH, he was responsible for growing that franchise from 35 to 180 locations. Serving Guava as a strategy consultant in recent months, Caldwell has been instrumental in leading the development of the Guava franchise model and growth plan. He joins the company as executive vice president and will oversee sales and marketing of the franchise business.
Kevin Pike formerly served as vice president of operations for U.S. Motor Works, overseeing operations for the company and helping it grow to more than 100 franchises. He then joined Party Land, Inc., the world’s largest party supply franchise serving as vice president of franchise services, and was part of the management team that grew that company to over 500 units in 24 countries worldwide. In that capacity he had oversight of every aspect of interaction with prospective franchisees, as well as development and growth of existing units worldwide. Most recently, he helped bring start-up fitness concept Row Zone to market. Pike joins Guava as vice president of Operations and Business Development. He will work with franchisees on all aspects of their business growth from site selection to local marketing and business development and coordinate operational support for the company.
Established in 2006 and acquired by Capsalus Corp. (http://www.capsalus.com/) in 2011, Guava Healthcare is one of the fastest growing and innovative homecare, healthcare, child care and staffing franchise opportunities in the United States. Guava offers franchisees the opportunity to work in the rapidly expanding field of home healthcare while also offering non-medical services that most of the competition does not provide.
