Dreaming of a Pawfect Holiday Celebration: Send Your Dog to Camp at Camp Bow Wow(R) The Woodlands

December 07, 2011 // Franchising.com // The Woodlands, TX: With the howliday season in full swing, many local puppy parents with travel plans have already reserved a cabin or two for their pups at Camp Bow Wow®, the city’s new Premier Doggy Day and Overnight Camp®. Assured that their beloved companions will be well cared for while enjoying a rollicking, howling good time at the upscale digs for dogs at 27616 Commerce Oaks Drive in Oak Ridge North, under the constant supervision of Lee and Kristl Franklin and their well-trained team of Certified Camp Counselors®.

Camp Bow Wow takes the worry out of the holidays for individuals on the road because they know that their Campers will have plenty of exercise, play and human attention during their stay. In Camp Bow Wow’s all-day play environment, pups can go between the indoor, climate-controlled play areas and adjacent outside areas at will: climb on play bridges, or curl up in a sunny nook to nap whenever they choose. Camper guardians can check in on their pup from 30 or 3,000 miles away by logging on to the Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands website or iPhone App to watch real-time footage broadcast by one of the many live Camper Camssm installed around the camp.

Camp Bow Wow is a great place for dogs to spend the holidays even if the family is staying in town. “If you’re planning to entertain a large crowd at your home during the holidays, sending your dog to Camp during the party can alleviate a lot of stress for both of you,” said Kristl Franklin. “Especially if he or she is unnerved by large groups of people or you have a guest that’s afraid of or allergic to dogs. Most try to work around the issues by keeping their dogs confined to a separate room or outside while their guests are in the house. Unfortunately that tends to raise a dog’s anxiety level, since they generally want to be with people and where the action is. Puppy parents experience a subtle rise in their own stress level as well because of the underlying worry that their dog will either get out and disrupt the party, run out of the house unaccompanied when a guest opens the door, or eat rich foods from the holiday table that can make him/her sick.”

“Happy dogs at Camp don’t experience the same anxieties that dogs boarding in traditional kennels often have because of being crated and bored,” continued Lee Franklin. “Our campers are so busy having fun, socializing and playing with the other dogs during the day, they’re tired out and ready to relax when it’s time to go back to their cabins.” After a full day of play, overnight campers at Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands retreat to their private, climate-controlled cabins, for dinner, downtime and a tasty Campfire Treat. The spacious cabins, all furnished with comfy cots and soft fleece blankets, are large enough that several campers from the same family can bunk together at their guardian’s request. To avoid upset stomachs, guardians of overnight campers are encouraged to bring their pup’s food from home. Camp Bow Wow’s fees are all-inclusive.

For the safety and security of all, new campers are required to participate in a free Interview day, before they attend camp. Canine campers must be at least four-months old; spayed or neutered if six months or older; up-to-date on their Rabies and Distemper vaccinations; have had a Bordetella (canine cough) vaccination within the last six months; and be in general good health and of sound temperament.

Guardians who prefer to keep their pet families together while they are away can also enjoy peace of mind by arranging for their pets to be cared for in the comfort of their own home through the Franklin’s Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow® in-home pet care services. “It’s a great option for mixed pet families,” continued Kristl, “we’ll come to your home, walk your pup, play with your cats or feed your snake. In-home care is also a great option for dogs who aren’t eligible to attend Camp – newborn puppies or elderly dogs.” Home Buddies all-inclusive packages include services like overnight care, daily walks, pooper scooper back yard clean-ups and live, in-home Home Buddies CamsTM so pet guardians can look in on their pets at home from anywhere in the world.
