Snap Fitness Ranked Among the Top 50 Franchises in Entrepreneur’s 2012 Franchise 500(R)

January 05, 2012 // Franchising.com // CHANHASSEN, Minn. – For the sixth consecutive year, Snap Fitness has been named one of the top 500 franchises in the United States, ranking #36 in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500®. Snap Fitness also ranked #40 in the publication’s list of Fastest-Growing Franchises and #33 in the list of America’s Top Global Franchises.

The rankings for all 500 companies are determined using an exclusive formula that takes into account objective and quantifiable factors. The most important factors include financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system.

Snap Fitness Founder and CEO Peter Taunton attributes the company’s continued success and recognition to several growing fitness trends, including an increase in the number of company subsidized gym memberships, as well as an aging baby boomer generation looking to keep their youthful physique and energy.

"Despite a sluggish economy, the fitness market has become even more crowded and competitive, and is demanding more affordable and convenient gym options. That is exactly what we offer our members,” Taunton said, adding that the concept’s dedication to providing more value is also attractive to prospective franchise owners.

While Snap Fitness offers the same quality equipment as traditional health clubs, the booming brand is setting industry standards by focusing on complete member wellness and providing a host of products and services designed to give members better results and more value for their money. By scaling down in size and eliminating unnecessary amenities such as swimming pools and racquetball courts, Snap Fitness offers customers a quality, affordable workout with strong emphasis on customer service and convenience.

Founded in 2003 and franchising since 2004, Snap Fitness remains the world’s fastest growing franchisor of 24/7 express fitness centers. In 2011 alone, the burgeoning brand opened more than 150 clubs worldwide.

Other 2011 highlights included the launch of the nationwide “Partner with Peter” contest and Snap Fitness Rolling Strong. More than 2,000 people entered the “Partner with Peter” contest for a chance to win a free Snap Fitness franchise, which was awarded to a fourth grade teacher in Albany, Georgia. The launch of Snap Fitness Rolling Strong featured a partnership that will offer an easy in, easy out workout concept for professional drivers at numerous Pilot Flying J Travel Centers nationwide, with the first location slated to open in Dallas in January 2012.
